EndeavourOS Mercury: A Fresh Arch Linux Experience with Linux Kernel 6.13 and Xfce 4.20

The EndeavourOS team has officially released EndeavourOS Mercury, an Arch Linux-based distribution that comes with the latest features and improvements. This release features the Linux Kernel 6.13, and users can choose between the KDE Plasma 6.2.5 and Xfce 4.20 desktop environments during installation.

EndeavourOS Mercury boasts the Mesa 24.3.4 graphics stack and includes a revamped Calamares graphical installer for a more streamlined setup process. The distribution also enhances user experience with a default dark theme for KDE Plasma, GNOME, Xfce, Budgie, Cinnamon, and MATE sessions, and introduces new automatic wallpaper settings that adjust based on the selected theme.

Noteworthy enhancements in this release involve the addition of a memory test for EFI systems, resolution of issues related to Legacy BIOS installations, and improved functionality for copying mirror lists during the installation process. The development team noted that users who modify the mirror list in the live session will benefit from these adjustments during installation.

For existing EndeavourOS users, the distribution follows a rolling-release model, which means they can keep their systems up to date with new features by executing sudo pacman -Syu in the terminal.

EndeavourOS Mercury is available for download directly from the official website.
