The KDE Project has launched KDE Frameworks 6.11, the latest update in a series of monthly releases designed to enhance the functionality of KDE applications and the KDE Plasma desktop environment. This update introduces new search providers for KRunner, enabling searches on platforms like Docker Hub, Mozilla Developer Network, and Nix Packages.
One significant feature of KDE Frameworks 6.11 is the ability to undo changes made in the filename field within open/save dialogs in KDE applications. It also includes improvements in keyboard navigation and accessibility for the Plasma Discover package manager and Kirigami UI components, which will be incorporated into the upcoming KDE Plasma 6.4 desktop environment.
Furthermore, the Places panel in the Dolphin file manager has been upgraded to automatically populate the current location’s custom icon when adding items manually. This feature allows items to appear globally across all KDE applications.
The update enhances the Kirigami.LinkButton UI element with a color change upon interaction, and introduces an icon design to clarify external web links in Kirigami-based apps.
KDE Frameworks 6.11 also standardizes close button designs to a consistent black X across all KDE applications and adjusts the timeout indicator on Plasma notifications to be independent of the icon appearance.
A number of bugs have been resolved, including issues with overflowing footer buttons in dialogs and crashes related to rendering SVG images. There are also fixes for visual bugs in system tray icons and adjustments to how open/save dialogs manage focus and tab order.
Additionally, users can once again utilize the Ctrl+C shortcut to copy files and folders from the desktop, alongside a fix for the Properties dialog button for desktop symlinks.
