KDE Gear 24.12.3: Exciting Enhancements for Dolphin, Konsole, Tokodon, Itinerary, Kasts, and More!

The KDE Project has released KDE Gear 24.12.3, marking the final maintenance update for the KDE Gear 24.12 software suite. This update aims to enhance stability and usability across various KDE applications by addressing several bugs reported by users.

Among the key improvements in this release is the expanded functionality of KDE Itinerary, particularly in Poland, where it now supports the Polregio train operator. Additional updates include enhancements to how tickets are handled in the PKP app and the introduction of support for bookings at CitizenM hotels.

The Dolphin file manager has also received updates to enhance its keyboard-based item selection by ignoring diacritics, and the Kasts podcast app benefits from improved sorting of podcast episodes. Furthermore, the Konsole terminal has had its performance issues addressed, resolving the freezing problem encountered at startup or when launching applications that utilize Konsole KPart (such as Kate).

The social media client Tokodon has been updated as well, featuring new icons in its context menu and improved accessibility options. This release has also rectified an issue in the Akonadi background service related to loading tags in KDE PIM apps, which previously caused excessive CPU usage.

Several other applications, including AudioTube, Calligra, Gwenview, and Okular, have also been updated in this version. For more details, users can check the full changelog.
