Amarok 3.0.1 has been released shortly after Amarok 3.0, introducing several new features. These include a functionality that allows users to copy images from the Wikipedia applet directly into their clipboard. Additionally, there’s a new interactive notification that appears when a user clicks on a non-Wikipedia link, and enhancements that highlight the active search in the Wikipedia applet.
The update also introduces a feature that displays the artist of a track clearly under the ‘various artists’ or ‘different album artists’ sections within the context browser. It enhances numerous interface strings, optimizes the reading of ReplayGain tags, and includes support for the KDE Frameworks 5.78 suite of software.
Enhancements in this version also lead to a reduction in CPU usage by minimizing the analyzer when it’s hidden or minimized, and other improvements. The new update refines track deletion from playlists and addresses an issue where the volume was set to zero upon stopping phonon-vlc playback.
Lastly, Amarok 3.0.1 includes fixes for a variety of bugs, improving tag match bias, APG, and collection filtering. You can view the complete list of updates and bug fixes in the changelog.
Currently, Amarok 3.0.1 is available for download as a source tarball, necessitating manual compilation on GNU/Linux systems, or it can be installed as a Flatpak app through Flathub Beta. It is anticipated that Amarok 3.0.1 will also be accessible from the stable software repositories of various distros soon.
Amarok, the iconic music player from KDE, has been under development for over two decades. It saw a resurgence in April 2024 following a six-year pause, emerging as Amarok 3.0. This version introduced significant updates such as a Qt 5/KDE Frameworks 5-based interface, a new visual indicator for resizing context view applets, and enhanced support due to the inclusion of TagLib 2.0 and FFmpeg 5.0 libraries.
