Archinstall 3.0.14: Now Supporting UEFI Bootloader Installation on Removable Media

Archinstall 3.0.14 has been released as the latest stable version of Arch Linux’s menu-based installer, introducing several new features while addressing various bugs. Notably, this release allows users to install the UEFI bootloader on removable locations, providing greater flexibility during installation.

Key enhancements include a newly implemented dialog that simplifies the process of installing the UEFI bootloader to these removable locations. The update also improves the regex functionality, which now effectively removes unnecessary ‘|’ symbols and permits whitespace when validating user input for partition value units. Additionally, it prevents the creation of Boot Loader Specification (BLS) and Limine bootloader entries for fallback initramfs.

Bug fixes featured in this version correct multiple issues, including one related to the --needed argument, which previously hindered re-installs. There were also fixes for an empty screen appearing during manual partitioning and adjustments to the GRUB fallback-from-removable logic. Furthermore, the integration of Snapper-Grub has been improved to mirror how Timeshift handles snapshots.

Users can access Archinstall 3.0.14 in Arch Linux’s stable repositories immediately, given that their systems have been updated using the command sudo pacman -Sy archinstall. To confirm the installed version, users can run the command archinstall -v.

This version will also serve as the default installer for the upcoming Arch Linux 2025.12.01 ISO snapshot set to be released on December 1st, 2025, beneficial for those seeking a fresh installation with the latest features. For further details on the changes in Archinstall 3.0.14, users can refer to the release notes on the project’s GitHub page.
