Archinstall 3.0.15: Enhanced Support for rEFInd Boot Manager in Arch Linux Installer

Archinstall 3.0.15, the latest stable version of the Arch Linux Installer, has been released, introducing a suite of new features aimed at enhancing user experience. Key highlights of this update include support for the rEFInd boot manager, and CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) installation capabilities, alongside stable functionality for the COSMIC desktop environment.

This release also brings a timer to the post-install screen and improved power management options through the integration of power-profiles-daemon/tuned. Additionally, users can now explicitly select any additional repository they wish to utilize. Enhanced Zram configuration support is included, allowing for dynamic setup based on recommended practices. Furthermore, compatibility with the IWD net wireless daemon is provided for network selection.

Archinstall 3.0.15 ensures that the removable location is the default for bootloader installation, updates the Logical Volume Management (LVM) root size dynamically, and introduces a symlink for /etc/resolv.conf under systemd-resolved. The installer also improves the language display handling, aligning it more closely with other sections of the installation process.

Bug fixes enhance functionality by addressing issues such as the mirror list hanging when the /status endpoint is inaccessible, the removal of the GRUB removable fallback path, and the enhancement of menu filtering and sorting through priority adjustments.

For detailed information about the changes included in this release, users can refer to the project’s GitHub page.

Archinstall 3.0.15 can be utilized immediately with the current Arch Linux ISO snapshot by updating through the terminal with the command sudo pacman -Sy archinstall. Users can verify their installed version per the command archinstall -v.

This new version will also serve as the default installer for the impending Arch Linux 2026.01.01 ISO snapshot set to release on January 1, 2026, providing users an opportunity to experience the new features upon fresh installations.
