Archinstall 3.0.3 Enhances Limine Bootloader Support in Arch Linux Installer

The Arch Linux Installer, Archinstall, has been updated to version 3.0.3, the latest maintenance release in the Archinstall 3.0 series. This update brings several significant improvements and bug fixes, particularly enhancing the support for the Limine bootloader.

Among the key updates, Archinstall 3.0.3 introduces support for Unified Kernel Images (UKI) and organizes the Limine configuration and BIOS files into a dedicated subdirectory. It also includes the creation of a proper EFI boot menu entry and allows the use of UUIDs for accessing boot partitions that do not match the EFI System Partition (ESP). Additionally, users will no longer encounter the ‘boot partition unsupported’ message in certain circumstances.

This release replaces the Sway window manager with Hyprland for profile seat selection and enhances support for FAT12 and FAT16 ESPs. It includes a new package selector that offers a multi-selection interface for users to add available packages more efficiently.

Importantly, Archinstall will no longer automatically install the GRUB bootloader on BIOS systems unless explicitly chosen by the user, and it also improves the installation process for the NVIDIA graphics driver. Other notable changes involve enhanced manual partitioning support with XBOOTLDR and detecting boot partitions regardless of boot flags when mounted on /boot.
