Audacity 3.7.2 Enhances Linux AppImage for Ubuntu 22.04 LTS Users

Audacity 3.7.2 has been released as the latest stable version of this popular open-source digital audio editor and recording software. This update addresses various bugs, stability issues, and introduces several enhancements, particularly for the AppImage bundle targeting Ubuntu 22.04 LTS.

Key improvements include:

  • An option to disable automatic tempo detection.
  • Integration of UUID instance support.
  • A new “get effects” button added next to the ‘Upload Audio’ button.
  • Independent real-time effect instances for duplicated tracks.
  • Immediate access to effect settings upon adding real-time effects.

Additionally, the update enhances cloud saving stability and warns users when attempting to save projects created in previous Audacity versions. Various bugs have been eliminated, including crashes when applying effects to empty tracks and issues with track rendering at high zoom levels.

The "Residue" option for noise reduction has returned, and modules will persist through future Audacity 3.7 updates, negating the need to re-update the OpenVINO toolkit.

For more details on the changes, you can view the release notes on the project’s GitHub page. Audacity 3.7.2 is available for download as a universal AppImage, ensuring compatibility across various GNU/Linux distributions without additional installation.
