Calibre 8.10 Enhances Kindle MTP Driver: Key Improvements You Need to Know

Calibre 8.10 has been released as the latest stable version of the popular open-source e-book management software compatible with GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows. This update follows two weeks after the previous version, Calibre 8.9.

Key improvements include enhancements to the Kindle MTP driver that address the incorrect placement of APNX files when books are sent to subfolders within the root directory. Additionally, the generic MTP driver now supports the creation of format-specific destinations for audiobook files.

The update enhances the Book List feature, allowing users to customize tooltips for each column by using a template found in the “Define tooltip template” option accessible via the right-click column header. There’s also a new feature for searching keyboard shortcuts by name or shortcut within the Preferences > Keyboard settings, as well as improvements made to news sources from the Harvard Business Review and Outlook Magazine.

Among other updates are fixes for regressions, including one that affected the Read Aloud feature in the E-book viewer, which previously broke voice changes when it was set to ‘Automatically select’, and another fix for issues with Calibre’s markdown output.

For further details, you can check out the release notes. Calibre 8.10 can be downloaded from the official website as a binary file for 64-bit and ARM64 (AArch64) Linux systems. Additionally, it is available as a Flatpak app via Flathub.
