Clonezilla Live 3.3.0-33 Now Supports Cloning MTD Block and eMMC Boot Devices

Clonezilla Live 3.3.0-33 has officially been released by developer Steven Shiau, enhancing this Debian-based, open-source system for cloning disk drives and partitions. The latest version boasts significant upgrades, primarily focusing on support for imaging MTD block and eMMC boot devices, accessible in expert mode.

One of the notable additions is the new ocs-blkdev-sorter tool, allowing udev to generate Clonezilla alias block devices in /dev/ocs-disks/. Additionally, it incorporates the ocs-live-time-sync tool to assist with time synchronization, which is utilized by ocs-live-netcfg.

The release also introduces new options and tools: the -uoab flag for ocs-sr and ocs-live-feed-img tools for selecting Clonezilla alias block device names in the text-mode UI, as well as the ocs-cmd-screen-sample tool, which works with the “run again” script. Moreover, the ocs-live-gen-ubrd tool is introduced for merging OCS zip files with U-Boot-compatible bootable raw images.

In terms of system enhancements, the update adds atd and cron packages, improves console font size management based on terminal dimensions, and adds mechanisms for checking the existence of LVM thin provisioning. The dhcpcd-base package is now included as well, along with the ocs-blk-dev-info program for fetching block device information in JSON format.

Other improvements include new command options for b3sum, updates to the ocs-iso-2-onie script to handle multiple mkinitramfs segments, and improvements to the ocs-lang-kbd-conf script options. Furthermore, the configuration file ocs-live-hook.conf was updated to ensure that the “loop” module is added to initramfs.

Clonezilla Live 3.3.0-33 also enhances network functionalities by changing the Ethernet device linking timeout to seven seconds, refining the grub.cfg file, and providing better readability in the ocs-scan-disk output. It successfully resolved several bugs, including one affecting the --batch option and another concerning image names with special characters.

With the upgraded underlying GNU/Linux system rebased to the Debian Sid repositories as of October 17, 2025, and changes to the live-boot package and Partclone utility, this version of Clonezilla Live represents a significant leap forward in functionality and support.

Clonezilla Live 3.3.0-33 is readily available for download from the official website for 64-bit systems, allowing users easy access to this robust disk cloning solution.
