Darktable 5.4 has been released as the latest version of this open-source RAW image editor, suitable for multiple operating systems including GNU/Linux, macOS, and Windows. This update arrives over eight months after Darktable 5.2.1 and introduces a range of enhancements and additional camera support.

Darktable 5.4 also features updated white balance presets for selected Canon and Nikon cameras, as well as newly introduced noise profiles for several high-end models. Additionally, enhancements in the demosaic module include a new Capture Sharpening section and a tone mapper implementation based on Blender’s AgX display transform. Users will benefit from support for multiple workspaces and various improvements related to Wayland compatibility.
Other usability enhancements include the implementation of a busy cursor during view changes, an improved zoom dropdown in navigation windows, and faster response when applying rotations or flips. The update also allows for automatic compensation of underexposure in various camera modes.
