A set of four exciting new animations has been added to the popular GNOME Shell extension, Burn My Windows, which enhances the visual experience of opening and closing windows on Ubuntu. This latest update, version 45, introduces some fun features while also improving existing ones, such as the Incinerate effect, which now boasts more realistic fire propagation.
Among the new effects are:
- Aura Glow: Adds a glowing aura as windows appear or disappear.
- Mushroom: A whimsical effect inspired by the Super Mario games.
- RGB Warp: Distorts window colors by separating color channels for a striking visual.
- Team Rocket: Mimics a memorable animation from the Pokémon TV series.
For those interested in seeing these animations in action, a quick demonstration can be viewed here: Watch the Demo.
With over 25 effects available, including classic animations from the Compiz era and newer additions, Burn My Windows offers a customizable experience packed with visual flair. The latest version supports GNOME 45+ (Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and higher), and users on older releases can still enjoy previous versions of the extension, albeit with some limitations.
To install Burn My Windows, visit the GNOME Extensions website. Existing users will receive the update automatically; however, it requires logging out and back in to take effect.
