A selection of new icons has been introduced in Ubuntu 26.04 LTS, ensuring that the platform’s new default applications have a cohesive Yaru design. Notably, the latest version of the Resources system monitor tool has been updated with a new icon that conforms to the standard Yaru shapes, featuring a round design and a simplified scale.
Previously, in the Ubuntu 26.04 beta, the app used its upstream icon, which, while functional, did not fit the expected Yaru icon style. This has now been resolved to enhance aesthetic consistency.
Additionally, the Showtime video player has replaced the GTK3 Totem player in this release. The new app initially featured the upstream icon, but it has since been given a modified version of the Yaru Totem icon, complete with its unique color scheme. Unlike Resources, which is included in the minimal installation, Showtime is part of the expanded installation option but can be added easily via the App Center or through the command line.
For those testing or using the early version of Ubuntu 26.04, they can access these newly updated icons through the Yaru theme updates by utilizing the Software Updater or running apt update.
