Exciting News: Latest Steam Client Update Enhances DualSense Controller Support on Linux!

Valve has released a new stable update for its Steam Client on all supported platforms, improving the compatibility and functionality of DualSense controllers for Linux users. This update addresses a specific crash issue that occurs when DualSense controllers are connected but idle.

Additionally, the update enhances the High Contrast view for the game list search and app filter panel. Notably, it introduces support for dual gyros in Nintendo Switch Joycons when in combined mode.

Other improvements include:

  • The ability to switch tabs in the tabbed browser using CTRL+TAB.
  • Enhanced game recording performance for titles utilizing Vulkan rendering.
  • Added security measures against the Unity vulnerability identified as CVE-2025-59489, which blocks game launches when an exploit attempt is detected.

The streaming experience has also been improved, resolving an issue where clicking "stream" would not initiate streaming. A crash that could occur in D3D12 games due to rapid opening and closing of the in-game overlay has been fixed, as well as a problem with Steam Client notifications being suppressed after exiting SteamVR.

For those wanting to check out all the changes, the full release notes are available. Users can update their Steam Client by navigating to the Steam menu and selecting ‘Check for Steam Client Updates,’ followed by downloading and applying the update.
