Explore the New Contrast Control Settings in Firefox 138: Now Available for Public Beta Testing!

Mozilla has released the Firefox 138 beta, offering new features focused on enhancing user accessibility and tab management. Building on the foundation laid by Firefox 137, this update is significant as it includes the ability to copy links for background tabs directly from the tabstrip context menu for both Linux and macOS users. Additionally, Firefox 138 introduces an improved autofill feature for addresses and credit cards that better accommodates dynamically updated forms.

A key enhancement in this beta version is the introduction of expanded tab grouping options, allowing users to add or remove tabs from groups via new right-click menu entries. The previous color settings have been revamped into Contrast Control settings that help users maintain consistent color schemes across web pages to improve readability—this feature is turned off by default but can be toggled on for user customization.

Further, Firefox 138 includes a new "Report broken site" function found in the hamburger menu, empowering users to report issues encountered on various websites, allowing Mozilla to address these for future users. The update is also geared towards mobile users, providing Android version support for TLS client authentication certificates and sharing capabilities for downloaded files directly from the Downloads screen.

For developers, this release enhances functionality through features such as error.captureStackTrace for better compatibility, and caching directives that allow for a more controlled clearing of user data during logout, pushing user privacy to the forefront.

Firefox 138 is expected to be officially launched on April 29, 2025, and users can download the beta version from the official website. As always, pre-release versions are not recommended for production use.
