Garuda Linux “Broadwing” Launches: Introducing the Mokka Edition and a Revamped Welcome App!

Garuda Linux “Broadwing” has officially launched, bringing with it a brand-new Mokka Edition and an updated Welcome app designed to enhance the overall user experience. This release updates several editions, including dr460nized, Hyprland, i3, and Sway.

The latest version is based on the cutting-edge Linux 6.13 kernel and features a new Welcome app called Garuda Rani (Reliable Assistant for Native Installations). Garuda Rani consolidates the functions of the previous Welcome, Gamer, and Assistant apps to provide newcomers with an easier onboarding process.

Among the highlights of this release is the introduction of the Garuda Mokka edition, which showcases a Catppuccin-themed KDE Plasma desktop. This edition is designed to offer a visually appealing and cohesive user experience, breathing new life into the KDE Plasma environment.

Notably, the dr460nized (KDE Plasma) edition has been enhanced to include the Panel Colorizer, allowing users to personalize their desktop appearance further. Additionally, the Hyprland edition has received an updated screenshot script and several workflow enhancements such as new workspaces and improved compatibility with older systems through X11 as a secondary GDK backend.

The i3 edition now includes FontAwesome support for a more polished appearance and has updated settings for improved CPU temperature display and font sizes. The Sway edition has also been refreshed to feature a new greeter, updated lockscreen, and an overhauled Waybar.
