GParted Live 1.7 Released: Introducing Experimental Bcachefs Support and Linux 6.12 LTS

GParted Live 1.7 has been released, featuring experimental support for the Bcachefs file system and utilizing the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel. This updated version of the popular open-source partition manager, which allows users to resize, copy, and move partitions without risking data loss, arrives almost a year after its predecessor, GParted 1.6.

The new functionalities in GParted 1.7 include support for recognizing Network Block Devices (NBDs) and a new mechanism to prevent automatic starts of LVM volume groups during the GParted probe. Furthermore, it enhances support for exFAT partitions by reading file usage from exfatprogs version 1.2.3 or later and raises the minimum required version of the libparted library to 3.2.

In addition to improvements and bug fixes, GParted Live 1.7 is based on the Debian Sid (Debian 13 “Trixie”) repository and includes three new packages for the live system that support Bcachefs. This makes it convenient for those who want to run GParted 1.7 from a USB flash drive without needing to install software on their computers.

Users can download GParted 1.7 from the official GParted website, and GParted Live 1.7 is available in both 64-bit and 32-bit live ISO images, complete with new and updated translations.
