High Tide Update: New Features Include Gapless Playback and Replay Gain for Linux Users!

High Tide, the GTK4/libadawaita application designed for Tidal, has received a significant update, progressing from version 0.1.8 to 1.0.0. This version brings a collection of fixes and enhancements aimed at improving user experience.

With this update, the responsiveness of High Tide has seen marked improvements thanks to several optimizations such as cache adjustments, revamped page loading, and refined code. Users can expect smoother operation, especially noticeable during startup and when navigating the Explore section or moving through albums and playlists—all now benefit from caching.

Notable audio features have been integrated, including track replay gain applied when album gain is not specified, which will help regulate volume discrepancies between tracks. High Tide also introduces support for gapless playback, although this feature is temporarily disabled when using the Pipewire audio sink due to a known bug. Users can enable gapless playback by setting the audio to ‘Automatic’.

The update further adds home page shortcuts and fixes various bugs, while also fine-tuning numerous strings, translations, and underlying APIs.

For Tidal subscribers, High Tide stands out as a superior option compared to the official web app and existing unofficial wrappers for Linux, thanks to its direct integration with Tidal’s APIs and user-friendly desktop experience.

High Tide is available as free, open-source software, but requires a Tidal account for use. You can download High Tide from Flathub.
