The Archinstall 3.0 menu-based installer for Arch Linux has been officially released, showcasing significant updates including a redesigned user interface. This version introduces a new text-mode interface powered by the Curses terminal control library, which enhances the layout and overall user experience.
In the revamped setup, the installer presents main settings in a side panel instead of separate pages, streamlining navigation for users—particularly beneficial for newcomers to Arch Linux.
Archinstall 3.0 also adds valuable features such as ruff linting support, a get_loop_devices() function for managing loop devices, and options to exclude the Arch Linux ISO loop device from configurations. Other enhancements include updated configuration samples, improved mirror list fetching, and the ability to ignore certain disk encryption settings when no password is entered.
Bug fixes and quality improvements have also been implemented, providing a smoother installation experience. For more detailed information, users can refer to the release notes on the project’s GitHub page. The new version is available in Arch Linux’s stable repositories and can be immediately utilized with the latest Arch Linux ISO snapshot.
