Unveiled at Akademy 2024, KDE’s annual community get-together, the KDE Slimbook VI marks a major refresh from earlier models in the KDE Slimbook line.
And this thing isn’t a slouch – a dedicated benchmark page shows how this model compares to the preceding versions (spoiler: better).
The KDE Slimbook VI, featuring a 16-inch display, is equipped with an AMD Ryzen 7 8845HS processor, complete with an integrated NPU to handle local AI/ML tasks.
Although the graphics are integrated, they surpass standard iGPUs with a 12-core configuration, high clock speeds, and performance exceeding that of a GTX 1050 Ti, all while consuming less power.
While the starting configuration includes 16 GB of RAM, the device can support up to 96 GB of RAM, a significant increase from the 64 GB limit of previous models.
The RAM is not soldered and comes in 2 slots, allowing for future upgrades to increase the device’s longevity and performance.
The latest KDE Slimbook, now in its sixth generation, features an impressive 80 Wh battery and a quad speaker system consisting of two speakers and two tweeters. It also boasts an arresting Space Blue aluminum chassis.
The build quality has been enhanced compared to previous versions, and it includes a sturdier keyboard that promises reduced flex during intense typing sessions.
As usual, the KDE Slimbook VI comes pre-installed with KDE neon, which is based on Ubuntu, and includes the most recent KDE Plasma 6.1 version.

And here’s a closer look at the bottom, which gives a better sense of the ‘Space Blue’ colour:

The KDE Slimbook Plasma VI is available to pre-order from today at a special early-bird launch price of €1099, though this will rise by €100 or so in a few weeks I’d imagine.
