Raspberry Pi has introduced two exciting new products: the Raspberry Pi 500 and an official monitor. The Raspberry Pi 500, an updated version of the popular keyboard PC, is powered by the Raspberry Pi 5’s Broadcom BCM2712 quad-core Cortex-A76 SoC, making it significantly more powerful than its predecessor, the Raspberry Pi 400. This new model comes with 8GB of RAM, doubling the previous amount, and features rearranged ports for better accessibility.
The design of the Raspberry Pi 500 remains similar to the 400, but it is enclosed in a striking white case. Despite its compact form factor, it incorporates an integrated aluminum heatsink to manage heat since there is no fan. However, the device lacks support for NVMe SSD storage, with the potential for a more advanced model hinted at in the future.
Pricing for the Raspberry Pi 500 starts at £85/$90 for the standalone unit, which comes with a 32GB SD card. A desktop kit option, retailing for £113/$120, includes essential accessories like a mouse, power supply, and HDMI cable.
In addition to the new keyboard PC, Raspberry Pi has launched an official 15.6-inch monitor, designed specifically for Raspberry Pi products. This portable IPS LCD monitor boasts a full HD resolution of 1920×1080, with anti-glare features, 250 nits brightness, and several connectivity options, including HDMI and stereo speakers. The monitor is priced at £94/$100 and includes a USB power cable.
Both the Raspberry Pi 500 and the new monitor are available for order now from authorized Raspberry Pi resellers. There’s also a price cut on the older Raspberry Pi 400 model, making it slightly more accessible for those not needing the upgraded hardware specs.
