The Raspberry Pi Foundation recently unveiled the Raspberry Pi 500+, an advanced all-in-one PC designed upon the Raspberry Pi 5 architecture. This new model serves as a successor to the original Raspberry Pi 500, boasting the Raspberry Pi 5’s 16GB version along with a state-of-the-art mechanical keyboard that features removable keycaps and RGB LED backlighting.
Each key utilizes a Gateron KS-33 Blue switch for enhanced tactile feedback, making typing a pleasurable experience. Users will appreciate that the keyboard is compatible with various aftermarket keycap sets, and a key puller tool is included to aid in customization. Additionally, users can swap out the provided 256GB Raspberry Pi SSD for larger storage options if desired.
Preinstalled with the Debian-based Raspberry Pi OS, the new device permits booting from an SD card or external USB SSD. Its internal setup includes a 2.4 GHz quad-core Arm Cortex-A76 CPU, capabilities for dual 4K display output, and both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The Raspberry Pi 500+ is available for purchase at $200 USD. There’s also a Desktop Kit that retails for $220 USD, which comprises a Raspberry Pi Mouse, a 27W USB-C power supply, a 2m micro HDMI to HDMI cable, and a copy of the Raspberry Pi Beginner’s Guide.
