Introducing the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6: The Ultimate High-End Linux Laptop for Desktop Replacement

TUXEDO Computers, a German-based Linux hardware vendor, has introduced the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6, a Linux-powered laptop featuring enhanced processor, graphics, and display technology.

At its core, the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 is equipped with an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor boasting 24 cores and 32 threads. It offers up to NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 graphics with 16 GB GDDR6 VRAM, a maximum of 64 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM RAM, and an impressive up to 8 Terabytes of PCIe 4.0 high-speed SSD storage.

“This is the fastest hardware on the planet in an enclosure that strikes the golden mean between portable case dimensions and high cooling capacity for either fastest high-end hardware on par with upper-class desktop PCs or quieter fan noise at very high working and gaming performance,” said TUXEDO Computers in a press release.

The sixth generation TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Linux laptop comes in a sleek, all-aluminum chassis and features a stunning 16-inch matte display with an ultra-fast 240 Hz refresh rate. It supports NVIDIA G-SYNC and Advanced Optimus, boasts a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, covers 100% of the sRGB color space, and features a bright 500 nits LED backlight.

Regarding connectivity, the TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 is equipped with Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 802.11 (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz) ac/a/b/g/n/ax wireless, Bluetooth 5.3, an HDMI 2.1 port supporting HDCP 2.3, a 1 Gbit RJ45 (LAN) port, a Thunderbolt 4 / USB-C port with DisplayPort 1.4a, three USB-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, a USB-C 3.2 Gen1 port, a 2-in-1 3.5mm audio jack for headphones and microphones, and a full-size SD card reader.

This Linux laptop also incorporates a 99 Wh battery that offers up to 10 hours of video playback, TPM 2.0 security, a Kensington-Lock mounting option, and magnetic self-sealing ports for the TUXEDO Aquaris cooling system. It features high-definition audio, a quietly operating rubber dome/membrane keyboard with multicolor (RGB) per-key backlighting, and a FullHD (1080p) webcam with an integrated microphone and lens shutter.

The TUXEDO Stellaris 16 Gen6 is now up for pre-order at TUXEDO Computers’ online store, starting at 1660 EUR (~$1,816 USD) for customers outside Europe, or 1979 EUR for European customers for the base configuration, which includes the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 graphics, 16GB DDR5-5600 RAM, and 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD storage. Shipping is scheduled to commence in mid-November 2024.

As is typical with all notebooks from TUXEDO Computers, users have the option to select the company’s proprietary Ubuntu-based TUXEDO OS distribution, which includes the KDE Plasma desktop environment, or they can choose between Ubuntu 24.04 LTS and Kubuntu 24.04 LTS.
