Offensive Security has announced the release of Kali Linux 2025.2, the second update in 2025 for this Debian-based distribution designed for ethical hacking and penetration testing. This update arrives three months after the previous release, Kali Linux 2025.1.
Among the key features of Kali Linux 2025.2 is a completely redesigned Kali Menu, which now aligns with the MITRE ATT&CK framework, making it easier for users to locate the right tools. While Xfce remains the default desktop environment, the updated version supports GNOME 48 and KDE Plasma 6.3. The new GNOME VPN IP extension allows users to view their VPN’s IP address directly in the panel.
This release includes several new hacking tools aimed at enhancing the user experience and capabilities. New additions include:
- Azurehound: A BloodHound data collector for Azure.
- binwalk3: A tool for firmware analysis.
- bloodhound-ce-python: A Python-based ingestor for BloodHound CE.
- bopscrk: A utility for generating smart and powerful wordlists.
- Additional tools like crlfuzz, gitxray, ldeep, rubeus, and more have also been incorporated, expanding the overall functionality for users.
Furthermore, Kali Linux 2025.2 introduces enhancements for car security testing with Kali NetHunter CARsenal, and there are significant updates to BloodHound, featuring a smoother interface and improved performance.
Users of Raspberry Pi can expect improved support as well, with streamlined image options for the Raspberry Pi 5 and compatibility with the Linux 6.12 LTS kernel. The new version also includes updates to drivers and allows non-root users to run specific commands more easily.
