KaOS Linux 2025.01 Arrives with Linux Kernel 6.12 LTS and KDE Plasma 6.2

KaOS Linux has launched its latest version, 2025.01, which includes the Linux Kernel 6.12 LTS and the KDE Plasma 6.2 desktop environment. This independent distribution is based on Arch Linux and employs the pacman package manager.

In this release, users will find the updated KDE Plasma 6.2.5, along with KDE Gear 24.12.1 and KDE Frameworks 6.10, all developed using the Qt 6.8.1 framework. A notable addition in KaOS Linux 2025.01 is the Zen Browser, a modern web browser based on Firefox, introducing several innovative features. Additionally, various applications such as Krusader, KStars, KMyMoney, Mixxx, and Photoflare have been updated to ensure compatibility with the latest versions of Qt6 and KDE Frameworks 6.

The release also features updated core components including Mesa 24.3.4, systemd 253.30, SQLite 3.48.0, and OpenSSL 3.4, among others.
