KDE Plasma 6.3.5 Enhances Multi-Screen Support and Optimizes Experience for NVIDIA GPU Users

Today, the KDE Project released version 6.3.5 of KDE Plasma, marking the fifth and final maintenance update in the 6.3 series. This update addresses a range of bugs, crashes, and other user-reported issues that have emerged over the past five weeks since version 6.3.4.

Key improvements in KDE Plasma 6.3.5 include a fix for a black or flickering lock screen for NVIDIA GPU users, resolution of a visual glitch affecting window shadows when using Night Light, and a crash in KWin caused by GPU resets. Additionally, the Activity Switcher sidebar mispositioning in multi-monitor environments has been corrected.

KWin, KDE’s window and composite manager, benefits significantly from this update with fixes for disconnections from specific docking stations and issues that caused excessive screen repaints while dimmed. Support for multi-screen setups has been enhanced to prevent the User Interface from incorrectly showing settings for a different screen when reverting changes.

Printing support has also been improved; users can set a new printer as the default when multiple printers are added. Other enhancements include compatibility with Qt versions 6.8.3 and 6.9, adjustments to the notifications system, and fixes for visual glitches in System Settings.

The Plasma Discover package manager saw improvements as well, addressing an issue with misaligned messages and header texts during offline upgrades and fixing random crashes. Enhancements to the Task Manager widget have made pop-up group dialogs appear correctly in vertical panel mode, while audio icons are now clearer when using fractional scaling.

Additionally, bugs affecting the Weather widget and tooltip text visibility have been resolved, ensuring a smoother overall user experience.
