KDE Plasma 6.4.1 Released: Explore New Enhancements and Bug Fixes

The KDE Project has released KDE Plasma 6.4.1, marking its first maintenance update for the KDE Plasma 6.4 desktop environment series. This new version features various enhancements and bug fixes aimed at improving user experience.

One of the notable changes in KDE Plasma 6.4.1 is the improved readability of graph axis labels across the desktop, now meeting the WCAG AA standard. Additionally, text contrast for subtitles and secondary labels has been enhanced. Users will notice better text readability in KRunner and Discover when list items are interacted with.

The Plasma Discover graphical package manager has received important updates as well. The search field now automatically trims whitespace to avoid copy-paste errors, and keyboard navigation for list views has been improved. A critical bug related to the “Missing Backends” section in the settings window has also been fixed, allowing it to operate correctly.

Several other bugs were addressed in this update. The Folder View widget now functions properly while using certain non-default view settings, touchscreen interactions, or when the view is scrollable. A bug that caused the Meta+V clipboard pop-up to fail in pre-selecting the top-most item was also resolved. Furthermore, users will find improvements regarding system locks or suspensions after specific application activities and the correct functionality of the Earth Science Picture of the Day wallpaper plugin.
