The Document Foundation announced today that LibreOffice 24.2.4 is now publicly available. This release marks the fourth update in the LibreOffice 24.2 series, with over 70 bugs addressed.
Released just over a month after LibreOffice 24.2.3, version 24.2.4 continues to tackle issues that cause crashes and other disruptions, enhancing both stability and reliability. The previous installment in the series, LibreOffice 24.2, also aimed at rectifying similar user-reported problems.
A detailed count shows the LibreOffice 24.2.4 update resolves precisely 72 bugs. For a detailed breakdown of the addressed issues, one can refer to the changelogs for RC1 and RC2. DEB and RPM binaries are available for download on the official website.
Users who have the current LibreOffice 24.2 installed via their Linux distribution’s official repositories will need to wait for the 24.2.4 update to become available through the same channels. Alternatively, those interested in compiling the software themselves can obtain the source code from the official site.
LibreOffice 24.2 was unveiled on January 31st, 2024. This version brought significant updates, including a new calendar-based versioning system, new features geared towards security and accessibility, and enhanced compatibility with the Microsoft Office suite.
LibreOffice 24.2 will receive seven maintenance releases, continuing support until November 30th, 2024. The subsequent update, LibreOffice 24.2.5, is scheduled for release in mid-July 2024.
The Document Foundation advises that this release is the “Community” edition, which is maintained by volunteers. For deployments at the enterprise level, they suggest the LibreOffice Enterprise family of applications provided by its ecosystem partners.
