Mozilla Thunderbird 136 Launches with Exciting New “Appearance” Panel in Settings

The latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird, version 136, has been released, introducing several features and enhancements aimed at improving user experience. Key among these updates is the addition of a new "Appearance" panel in the settings menu, which allows users to manage message threading and sorting preferences globally.

With this new panel, users can specify default sorting options for newly created folders. These options include various criteria such as date, subject, sender, thread, priority, and more. Users can also choose between ascending and descending order for sorting, helping to streamline their inbox management.

In addition to the Appearance panel, Thunderbird 136 adds a quick toggle feature in the header that allows messages to adjust automatically to dark mode. The update has also improved support for HiDPI screens and enhanced performance for users with multiple folders while resizing message panes.

Moreover, this update addresses multiple bugs that impacted several features, including issues with attachment handling in saved .EML files, unified folders functionality, sending emails to multiple SMTP servers, message searching, and interacting with Gmail messages.

For those interested, detailed information can be found in the release notes. You can download Thunderbird 136 from the official website by selecting "Thunderbird Release" on the Release Channel, or update directly from the About Mozilla Thunderbird dialog if you’re using the official binaries.
