ONLYOFFICE 9.2 Launches: Introducing AI Agent for Everyone and New Macro Recording Features

A new version of ONLYOFFICE Desktop Editors (version 9.2) has been released, introducing an AI Agent that enhances its functionality across all components, including the Document Editor, Spreadsheet Editor, Presentation Editor, and the PDF Editor. This AI Agent allows users to generate documents based on prompts, analyze content, fill out PDF forms, and even access the local file system, provided they input the necessary API key or login credentials from a cloud AI provider, such as ChatGPT or Gemini. Additionally, users can connect to local LLMs or MCP servers using applications like Ollama.

It’s important for users dealing with sensitive information to be cautious, as third-party AI services have various data privacy policies. The PDF Editor has also been updated with customizable redaction colors for greater flexibility when sharing documents.

Another significant feature added to ONLYOFFICE 9.2 is the ability to record macros. This allows users to automate repetitive tasks by recording sequences of actions, which can then be saved and reused. Access to this feature can be found under View > Record macro, although it is not available in the PDF Editor.

Other updates include:

  • Customizable keyboard shortcuts.
  • Capability to insert equations from online sources in the Presentation and PDF Editors.
  • Local PDF templates provided for the Forms Editor.
  • Support for labels for checkboxes and radio buttons in the Forms Editor.
  • Various security fixes.

For those looking to download ONLYOFFICE 9.2, it’s available for Windows, macOS, and Linux on the official website or via the GitHub releases page. Users on Ubuntu and similar distributions can install it using the DEB installer, but note that it does not create or update an APT repository. For a more streamlined installation, the official ONLYOFFICE Snap and Flatpak build on Flathub offer automatic updates.
