Today, Parrot Security has unveiled the release and general availability of Parrot OS 6.2, marking the latest update of this Debian-based distribution aimed at ethical hacking and penetration testing.
Arriving more than four and a half months after Parrot OS 6.1, version 6.2 introduces an innovative tool named Rocket. This tool allows users to launch Docker containers, specifically for various security tools available in the Parrot OS repository on Docker Hub. Rocket is entirely developed in Python and employs PyQt6 to create its graphical user interface.
“Instead of typing and downloading a specific tool, through Rocket you can select a tool from the list, and then downloading the Docker image and launching the container is taken care of by the application,” the developers explain. “This application runs on ParrotOS, but is also compatible with other distributions.”
Parrot OS 6.2 also brings updates to several hacking tools and now includes Airgeddon 11.30, Anonsurf 5.0.0, and Maltego 4.7.0. Additionally, significant updates have been made to the parrot-tools metapackages, which cover areas such as cloud, crypto, forensics, infogathering, reversing, web, and wireless.

This distribution is built on the Linux kernel 6.10, which has recently reached its end of life. However, the images for Raspberry Pi utilize Linux 6.6 LTS.
This new release is intended solely for fresh installations, but current users of Parrot OS can easily upgrade their systems by executing the sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade commands in a terminal emulator.
