Revealing the Official Wallpaper for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS

Esteemed adherents of the arts rejoice, as the official Ubuntu 24.04 wallpaper has finally been unveiled!

As you no-doubt know, every new Ubuntu release comes with its own unique desktop background and the upcoming release of Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble Numbat” doesn’t abdicate the responsibility.

Indeed, the Ubuntu 24.04 default wallpaper tacks firmly traditional, heeding the formula established in 2017: rich purple gradient, elegant geometric/polygonal edge detailing, and the official mascot image royally positioned in the center:

In addition to the default “colour” version shown above, a darker variant is included for those who prefer a nocturnal vibe (i.e., enable dark mode), a dimmed version, and a light version:

As Ubuntu 24.04 is a long-term support (LTS) release, regardless of whether you view this background as a subtle nod to the nobility of nature or merely a novel novelty, we should all prepare to see it frequently, as it will be prominently featured on both physical and digital screens for the next 5 years.

Nostalgia overload

This is Every Ubuntu Wallpaper, Ever

You don’t have to install an Ubuntu 24.04 daily build or wait until the beta lands later this week to use this background as it’s available to download.

Just like last year, Ubuntu’s developers have uploaded the new Ubuntu wallpaper in a variety of sizes and formats to

Google Drive.

Also included in the cloud folder is an editable SVG file of the Noble mascot, should you wish to incorporate it into your own custom creations.

Is this a noteworthy addition to the annals of Ubuntu artwork? Or has quality taken a nosedive in this new design? Share your opinion in the comments — I’m eager to discover what you think!
