The latest update for the Debian-based Tails amnesic incognito live system, version 6.6, features significant enhancements including better hardware support and various bug fixes.
Notable improvements in Tails 6.6 consist of enhanced compatibility with recent hardware like graphics and Wi-Fi, error detection enhancements during initial boot from a USB stick if resizing the system partition fails, and an upgraded Additional Software app which now avoids crashes when dealing with virtual packages.
Enhancements to Persistent Storage in this latest Tails update include extending the timeout period to 4 minutes when unlocking Persistent Storage before an error is reported, prevention of Persistent Storage settings freeze post-documentation link access, and bolstered robustness in Persistent Storage creation at first launching from a USB stick.
Moreover, Tails 6.6 reintroduces support for multiple network interfaces, fixes connection issues to the Tor network using default bridges, enhances Tails Cloner by eliminating the 30-second wait during installation by cloning, and updates Tor Browser to version 13.5.2 and Mozilla Thunderbird to 115.14.0.
