German-based Linux hardware manufacturer TUXEDO Computers unveiled today the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 notebook as their first convertible Linux-powered laptop that you can turn into a Linux tablet.
TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 is a 3-in-1 Linux convertible PC designed to allow flexible operation modes while on the go or in the office. It features a partial aluminum chassis and weighs 1.5 kg, and a 14-inch bright, matte coated, 360-degree, Full HD (1920×1200 pixels) touchscreen with pressure-sensitive pen support, 16:10 aspect ratio, and 400 nits brightness.
“The TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 has got the twist and allows (almost) infinite operation modes – from using it as classic laptop at any opening angle, to a space-saving touch display with finger or pen control (not included), to a large Linux tablet,” said TUXEDO Computers. “As soon as the device is used in monitor or tablet mode, the keyboard and touchpad are automatically deactivated to prevent incorrect entries.”
Under the hood, the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 is powered by an Intel Core i5-1335U processor with 10 cores and a TDP of 15 watts, a 55 Wh battery promising up to 6 hours of local video playback, upgradable RAM up to 64 GB DDR4-3200, and
Connectivity-wise, the TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 features 4G (LTE-A / LTE+) connectivity via SIM card, Bluetooth 5.3, two USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4 and “Full-Featured” USB-C 3.2 Gen2), an HDMI 2.0 port, two USB Type-A ports, a card reader for microSD / SIM card, and the obligatory 2-in-1 headphone/microphone jack.
As with all of TUXEDO Computers’s laptops, this convertible Linux laptop comes with the TUXEDO OS pre-installed featuring the latest KDE Plasma desktop environment, or you can choose between Ubuntu or Kubuntu operating systems with optional full-disk encryption.
TUXEDO InfinityFlex 14 is available for pre-order today from TUXEDO Computers’s online store starting at 1189 EUR (or about $1000 USD for customers outside Europe) for the base configuration with 16 GB 3200MHz DDR4 RAM and 500 GB Samsung 980 SSD. Shipping starts in mid-September 2024.
