The UBports Foundation has released the Ubuntu Touch OTA-1.1 update, enhancing the operating system for Fairphone 4 and Volla Phone 22 users with VoLTE support. This update is also available to Ubuntu Touch 20.04 users and introduces USB-C headset support along with bug fixes.
Ubuntu Touch OTA-1.1 includes significant improvements such as a quicker startup time after upgrades from Ubuntu Touch based on 20.04 LTS. It also enhances the management of Wi-Fi and VPN connections, ensuring deleted connections do not reappear upon reboot. Users can expect a more reliable Wi-Fi hotspot on certain devices as well.
Notably, several performance issues were addressed, including a Messaging app crash when opening video or audio attachments, an incorrect calendar display in the pull-down menu, and unresponsive notification badges for the Phone and Messaging apps. Additionally, the media scanning daemon issue that caused excessive CPU usage and battery drain has been resolved.
For Ubuntu Touch 20.04 users, the OTA-11 update fixes audio playback problems when disconnecting Bluetooth headsets.
Users currently on the Stable channel can check for the updates in the System Settings application. The rollout begins today, but availability may vary among users. For more details, visit the release announcement page.
