The UBports Foundation has launched Ubuntu Touch OTA-10, marking the tenth stable update for its mobile operating system based on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS (Focal Fossa). This new release, occurring nearly three months after OTA-9, introduces notable enhancements including support for the Rabbit R1 device and a new Ubuntu Touch upgrader feature. This upgrader will facilitate the upgrade to the forthcoming Ubuntu Touch 24.04-1.0, which will be rooted in Ubuntu 24.04 LTS.
In addition to offering Rabbit R1 support, OTA-10 includes preliminary Nix support, improvements to the SetBitrate() calculation in the H.264 encoder, and better Bluetooth functionality, specifically curtailing autopairing with Nissan Connect devices. Further enhancements include optimized Mir screencast calls with mutex support, UHD format compatibility, and updates to AVC level types.
The update is currently rolling out to all compatible devices, which include the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Fairphone models, Google Pixel 3a, multiple OnePlus versions, and others. The full list of supported devices also encompasses various Xiaomi and Sony Xperia models.
Users on the Stable channel will receive OTA-10 through the Update screen in the System Settings app. While the rollout starts today, it may not be instantaneous for all users, so patience is advised if the update does not appear immediately.
