This release marks the second major update in the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/9to5linux.com\/mesa-24-0-linux-graphics-stack-released-with-nvk-and-radv-driver-improvements\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mesa 24.x<\/a><\/strong> series.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>This version introduces new Vulkan extensions for the RADV (Radeon Vulkan) graphics driver, some of which include VK_KHR_dynamic_rendering_local_read, VK_EXT_legacy_vertex_attributes, VK_MESA_image_alignment_control, VK_KHR_maintenance7, and VK_EXT_shader_replicated_composites, along with 10-bit support for RADV.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Additionally, Mesa 24.2 supports the VK_EXT_legacy_vertex_attributes Vulkan extension in the ANV (Intel Vulkan), Lavapipe, and Turnip drivers. It also extends support for the VK_EXT_shader_replicated_composites Vulkan extension across the ANV (Intel Vulkan), Dozen, HasVK, Lavapipe, NVK, and Turnip drivers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Further enhancements include support for VK_KHR_maintenance5 and VK_EXT_depth_clamp_zero_one Vulkan extensions in the V3DV driver. It also brings support for the GL_ARB_depth_clamp OpenGL extension for the V3D driver and integrates a new shader cache implementation to reduce file system overhead by default.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>As expected with a new major Mesa version, this release improves support for several video games, including Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, Worms: Revolution, Asterix &amp; Obelix XXL: Romastered, Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance, Fallout 3, Starfield, Far Cry, Cyberpunk 2077, Total War: Warhammer III, God of War, Borderlands, and Enshrouded.<\/p>\n<p>Last but not least, Mesa 24.2 improves support for recent Blender versions with RDNA3 cards and Nouveau driver, improves support for GNOME Shell on Wayland, improves support for the AMD Radeon RX 7600, AMD Radeon RX 6400, and AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX GPUs, and fixes numerous bugs.<\/p>\n<p>Check out the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/docs.mesa3d.org\/relnotes\/24.2.0.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">full release notes<\/a><\/em> for more details about the changes implemented in Mesa 24.2, which should arrive shortly in the stable software repositories of your favorite GNU\/Linux distribution.
