This minimizes the need for additional updates post-installation.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.omgubuntu.co.uk\/2024\/03\/linux-kernel-6-8-new-features\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">What\u2019s New in Linux Kernel 6.8? All This\u2026<\/a><\/p>\n<p><p>A new HWE stack is included, so this installer boots Linux kernel 6.8 by default and comes with a newer set of graphics drivers than the last ISO. These are backported from the newest Ubuntu 24.04 LTS release.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>All of Ubuntu\u2019s flavors opting in for long-term support also get refreshed media. Thus, Xubuntu 22.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Kylin 22.04.5 LTS, Ubuntu Studio 22.04.5 LTS, et al are now available.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Already using Ubuntu 22.04 LTS?<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Don&#8217;t worry; there&#8217;s no need to download a new point release ISO and go through the process of a fresh install to access updates and fixes.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Updates such as Linux kernel 6.8 and newer graphics drivers have already been distributed to current users through standard software updates. Check and update through <em>Software Manager<\/em> if you haven&#8217;t done so yet!<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>While this marks the final planned point release for the &#8216;Jammy Jellyfish&#8217; series, support for Ubuntu 22.04 continues until 2027 for desktop users, with extended security available via Ubuntu Pro after this date.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Furthermore, an upgrade to Ubuntu 24.04 LTS from 22.04 LTS is feasible anytime.
