This handy tool simplifies the process of writing ISO, IMG, and other file formats to USB drives and SD cards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Recently, a significant update was released for the Raspberry Pi Imager, bringing it up to version 1.9.<\/p>\n<p>The tool, which is open-source and compatible across different platforms, has transitioned to using Qt 6.<\/p>\n<p>This update leads to multiple enhancements in stability and introduces some visual upgrades. According to Raspberry Pi, the move to Qt 6 means users will notice <em>&#8220;a slightly updated user interface across all supported platforms.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><figure><a href=\"https:\/\/149366088.v2.pressablecdn.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/09\/raspberry-pi-imager-1.jpg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><\/a><figcaption>Raspberry Pi Imager 1.9 uses Qt 6.7<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Comparing the Qt 6 UI to the Qt 5 one used in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omgubuntu.co.uk\/2023\/10\/raspberry-pi-imager-1-8-1-released-with-ui-changes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">previous release<\/a>, the only changes do appear \u201clight\u201d. The corners of buttons are now rounded, and there is improved hover styling when mousing through the devices\/os\/storage dialogs. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>But the biggest change is in packaging.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p><strong><em>Raspberry Pi Imager<\/em> is now available as an AppImage on Linux<\/strong>. This makes the tool a portable option since you can only need to download the AppImage once to run it on all your Linux machines without the need for native system packages on each.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Raspberry Pi OS is introducing a new package that simplifies the installation of AppImages.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Additional updates in Raspberry Pi Imager 1.9 include:<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Message alerts when no storage devices are detected<\/li>\n<li>Username validation within the OS customization feature<\/li>\n<li>A new <code>--disable-eject<\/code> flag for the command-line interface<\/li>\n<li>Resolved timeout issues on systems with numerous loop mounts like snaps<\/li>\n<li>Support for localectl in latest Debian\/Ubuntu versions<\/li>\n<li>Preference for native system cryptography libraries, such as GnuTLS on Linux<\/li>\n<li>Package signing now utilizes a new Raspberry Pi Ltd key<\/li>\n<li>Support for BCM2712d0<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced translations for French, Italian, and Simplified Chinese languages<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><p>The updated <a href=\"https:\/\/www.raspberrypi.com\/software\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raspberry Pi Imager<\/a> is available to download for Windows, macOS, and Linux from the official Raspberry Pi website, which also includes a DEB file for Ubuntu. The latest AppImages can be obtained from the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/raspberrypi\/rpi-imager\/releases\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Github release page<\/a> under the \u2018assets\u2019 section.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>The latest Linux AppImage now supports both Intel\/AMD and ARM64 architectures. With this update, the Raspberry Pi Imager has discontinued support for 32-bit ARM and 32-bit Intel\/AMD systems.
