Today marks the release of Ardour 8.10, presenting yet another critical hot-fix update in the Ardour 8.x<\/a><\/strong> series. This robust, free, open-source, cross-platform digital audio workstation (DAW) software resolves several major issues.<\/p>\n

Just one week following the launch of Ardour 8.9, the 8.10 release addresses several performance concerns linked to the scheduling of disk input\/output threads, the ability to import SMF (MIDI) files through drag and drop while using the file name, and the correct updating of playback buffers regarding region content slipping.<\/p>\n

In addition to resolving these significant concerns reported by users from earlier Ardour versions, Ardour 8.10 introduces a new MIDI binding map for the M-AUDIO Axiom MK II controller, a fresh Lua script designed to help duplicate regions on the grid, and updates for all non-default color themes.<\/p>\n

Moreover, it seems that Ardour 8.10 may be the final update in the Ardour 8.x series, given that no further major bugs have been identified. The developers are diligently progressing towards the next major release, Ardour 9.0, which is currently open for public testing at the project\u2019s Git repository<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is intended to be the last release of the 8.x series. Our git repository is now at 9.0-pre0, and should no longer be considered stable or usable for production work now that it contains what was the \u201cpianorule\u201d branch. Over the next few months, we will be working hard to get this into shape for a 9.0 release with several notable new features,\u201d said developer Paul Davis.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Ardour 8.10 is now ready for download from the official website<\/a><\/em> as a source tarball, which you will need to compile on your GNU\/Linux distribution by following these instructions<\/a><\/em>. If compiling isn’t your preference, Ardour can also be installed from your distribution’s stable repositories or as a Flatpak application available on Flathub<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
