The KDE Project has announced the release of KDE Gear 24.12.2, which serves as the second maintenance update for the KDE Gear 24.12 series. This update includes numerous enhancements and bug fixes for various KDE applications, including Dolphin, Itinerary, and Tokodon, among others.<\/p>\n

This release comes nearly a month after KDE Gear 24.12.1 and addresses a regression issue in the Dolphin file manager that affected keyboard focus when the application was minimized and restored on X11.<\/p>\n

KDE Itinerary received significant updates, improving document extraction methods for various transportation services, including enhancements for Bilkom and PKP PDF tickets. The new version also introduces support for a new API from Deutsche Bahn, which helps users query public transport information more effectively. Access to public transport data from various services, including Digitransit in Finland and Rolph in Germany, has been restored, along with improvements for ticket extraction from American Airlines, Brightline, Southwest, and Koleo.<\/p>\n

Additionally, a bug fix was implemented in the Tokodon client for Mastodon, solving a problem where the app would get stuck on the loading screen if account authentication failed.<\/p>\n

The update also optimizes the loading of IMAP tags and adjusts some SQL queries to comply with limitations imposed by SQL engines in the Akonadi background service, used by KDE PIM apps. Further adjustments were made to the Kalk calculator app, enhancing its history feature.<\/p>\n
