MZLA Technologies Corporation has introduced an update to its open-source desktop email client, Thunderbird, with version 141 featuring several enhancements aimed at improving user experience. While these updates may not be compelling enough for users on the Extended Support Maintenance (ESR) track to switch, they are beneficial for current users.<\/p>\n
The previous version, Thunderbird 140, allowed customization of new mail notifications, and Thunderbird 141 builds upon this by introducing an Archive<\/em> action in the notification options. Users can now choose from a range of actions including Mark as Read<\/em>, Delete<\/em>, Mark as Starred<\/em>, Mark as Spam<\/em>, and the new Archive<\/em> function.<\/p>\n Additionally, Thunderbird 141 warns users in the Composer if their configured OpenPGP key is nearing expiration within the next 31 days, serving as a helpful reminder.<\/p>\n The update also brings experimental support for Exchange, allowing for on-premise password authentication. However, this feature is still in the early stages and is limited to email functionalities only, such as account management and reading emails.<\/p>\n This update addresses various bugs and quirks, including fixes for startup crashes, async errors, and issues related to creating tasks from emails opened in a tab. Furthermore, several security vulnerabilities have been patched, including one that could potentially allow bypassing CORS with DNS rebinding, and another that affected the "Copy as cURL" feature.<\/p>\n
