Calibre 9.2 has been released, marking the second update in the latest series of this popular open-source ebook management software. This version comes with enhancements aimed at improving both performance and user experience across platforms, including GNU\/Linux, macOS, and Windows.<\/p>\n

One of the standout improvements is in the ZIP output functionality, allowing users to switch the template engine from Templite to Mustache, which offers better safety and performance. Additionally, a new option has been added to the check library feature, enabling users to rebuild the annotations search index.<\/p>\n

The Bookshelf view received significant updates as well. The rendering process has been optimized to avoid initial display issues during sizing adjustments, and a previously reported blank view problem on some macOS systems has been resolved. Furthermore, a bug preventing ebooks from being dragged and dropped into the Bookshelf view has been fixed.<\/p>\n

Calibre\u2019s ebook viewer has also seen improvements. A regression that affected the Go to page function has been addressed, along with issues with the PageUp and PageDown keys that required repeated inputs at internal HTML file boundaries in flow mode. Additionally, problems with the legibility of Google dictionary lookup results have been corrected.<\/p>\n

Other important changes include improvements to EPUB input, where font obfuscation processing now only occurs on files sourced from the EPUB itself. The CHM input also benefits from better security measures, ignoring internal files that could lead to path traversal attacks.<\/p>\n

Calibre 9.2 addresses several regressions from previous versions, including automatic cleanup issues for downloaded HTML files and scroll behavior in the Cover grid, as well as a bug that caused the Read Aloud feature in the ebook viewer to crash when restarting on Windows systems.<\/p>\n
