Paride Legovini from Canonical advised developers to concentrate on fixing bugs rather than adding features.<\/p>\n<h3>Key Features<\/h3>\n<p>Highlights for Ubuntu 26.10 include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Certified Hardware Check<\/strong>: Users will be able to check the Ubuntu Certified status in the Settings.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Retirement of dbus-daemon<\/strong>: After 22 years, this will no longer be the default.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Transition to Snap<\/strong>: Another system Deb package is being converted into a snap.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>While the outcome of Ubuntu 26.10 is still unfolding, it will incorporate GNOME 51, enhanced Rust tooling, and improved GPU driver management in the App Center. Major package updates can be included if developers obtain a Feature Freeze Exception (FFE) and submit their requests as per the usual release protocol.<\/p>\n<p>User-facing improvements, such as new wallpapers and updates to the Yaru theme, are expected before the User Interface Freeze on September 10, with the possibility of exceptions available if necessary.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the kernel, while the plan was to use Linux 7.2, there is a potential for Ubuntu 26.10 to launch with Linux 7.3, which remains in release candidate status.
