{"id":777,"date":"2024-05-30T00:09:50","date_gmt":"2024-05-30T00:09:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/serverhost.com\/blog\/mozilla-firefox-126-0-1-resolves-drag-and-drop-issue-on-linux-update-details\/"},"modified":"2025-02-11T06:49:25","modified_gmt":"2025-02-11T06:49:25","slug":"mozilla-firefox-126-0-1-resolves-drag-and-drop-issue-on-linux-update-details","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/serverhost.com\/blog\/mozilla-firefox-126-0-1-resolves-drag-and-drop-issue-on-linux-update-details\/","title":{"rendered":"Mozilla Firefox 126.0.1 Resolves Drag and Drop Issue on Linux: Update Details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><p><strong>This month\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omgubuntu.co.uk\/2024\/05\/mozilla-firefox-126-is-now-available-to-download\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox 126 release<\/a> brought with it a modest set of improvements for Linux users \u2014 as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/bugzilla.mozilla.org\/show_bug.cgi?id=1897115\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">an annoying bug<\/a> which temporarily breaks drag and drop actions in the browser.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>And that bug was easy to trigger: select some text or an image on a web page, then \u2018drag\u2019 it out but release (something I inadvertently do when browsing web pages quite often). Then, next time to you try to drag something out of a web page it no longer works.<\/p>\n<p>Restarting the browser (or perform a convoluted workaround involving external apps) would thaw the flaw, but not ideal.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the goods news is that this bug is fixed in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mozilla.org\/en-US\/firefox\/126.0.1\/releasenotes\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Firefox 126.0.1<\/a>, released today and likely to roll out via the Snap Store, Mozilla APT repo, and other Linux-friendly packaging outlets very soon.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Firefox 126.0.1 <em>also<\/em> fixes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Issue reading tagged PDF documents with screen readers<\/strong> <strong>(Windows, Linux)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Not using localized text for non-US locales in Crash Reporter (macOS)<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>High GPU memory usage on certain AMD graphics cards (Windows)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>I don\u2019t usually cover Firefox point releases (they never add new features only fix bugs) but given that this bug confused me earlier this week I figured others may have noticed it and want to know a) was a bug not their setup and b) it\u2019s now fixed.<\/p>\n<p>On the topic of Firefox, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.omgubuntu.co.uk\/2024\/05\/mozilla-shares-firefox-roadmap\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mozilla recently shared an updated roadmap<\/a> revealing new features its engineers and developers are currently working on.
