Today, the Zorin OS team has unveiled Zorin OS 17.3, an Ubuntu-based distribution designed specifically for users migrating from Windows 10. This latest release comes six months after Zorin OS 17.2 and is built on Linux kernel 6.8 from Ubuntu 24.04 LTS, enhancing the system’s performance and user experience.
One of the key features of Zorin OS 17.3 is its inclusion of the latest NVIDIA 570 graphics drivers, which support the new NVIDIA RTX 5000 series graphics cards. This is especially relevant as Windows 10 approaches its end of life in October, leaving many PCs unable to upgrade to Windows 11 due to strict hardware requirements. The Zorin OS team emphasizes that their OS is an ideal replacement, providing a fast, user-friendly, and secure alternative to Windows 10.
The distribution now supports over 150 applications, offering tailored alternatives to many common Windows programs. A notable addition is the new default web browser, Brave, which replaces Mozilla Firefox. The update also includes improvements aimed at touchscreen devices, updated apps, core components, and enhancements to the Zorin Connect mobile app.
For users of existing Zorin OS versions (17, 17.1, and 17.2), it is suggested to upgrade through the Software Updater utility rather than performing a new installation. Users migrating from Zorin OS 16 can also complete an in-place upgrade to the latest version.
Zorin OS 17.3 is available for download on the official Zorin website, and the Zorin OS 17 series will receive support and security updates until June 2027.
