MPV 0.39.0 Launches with Enhanced Scaling Support for NVIDIA RTX and Intel VSR

MPV 0.39.0, the latest stable version of this widely respected, open-source media player, is now accessible for download after a development period of five months.

The new features of MPV 0.39.0 include scaling support for NVIDIA RTX and Intel VSR through the D3D11VA filter, implementation of media controls on Windows, multi-touch functionality, enhanced track selection for languages with multiple components, and better compatibility with dmabuf-wayland.

A notable addition in this release is the select.lua script which allows effortless selection from playlists, tracks, chapters, and output devices among others, serving as a native alternative to autoload.lua. Furthermore, the stats.lua script now includes a fifth page that displays information about tracks.

Additional enhancements include a new --autocreate-playlist option for seamless demuxing, pitch-shifting in audio playback, an option to alter GPU API settings while running, --gamma-factor support, capabilities for macOS color space transformation including EDR/HDR, completion features for PowerShell command line, and deadzone support for VO dragging.

Additionally, MPV 0.39.0 introduces support for ITU T.35 metadata within the Matroska (MKV) container, includes VVC Matroska demuxing capabilities, and adds mouse input event handling in the Windows terminal. Underlying advancements include the update to use FFmpeg 6.1 or later, and libplacebo version 6.338.2 or newer.
