Rocky Linux 10: Your Free Alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10 Is Here!

Rocky Linux 10 has been officially released as a free alternative to Red Hat Enterprise Linux 10. This new version introduces significant changes, including support for the 64-bit RISC-V architecture and the deprecation of 32-bit applications.

Key features of Rocky Linux 10 include the integration of a DHCP client within the NetworkManager, enabling administrative privileges by default for users, and allowing Remote Desktop Protocol (RDP) for graphical remote access. Additionally, the support for x86-64-v2 architectures has been removed in this release, while Wayland replaces the Xorg Server as the default display server, using Xwayland to accommodate applications not yet adapted to Wayland.

Under the hood, Rocky Linux 10 comes equipped with updated GNU/Linux technologies such as Rust 1.84.1, LLVM 19.1.7, Go 1.23, Grafana 10.2.6, GDB 14.2, Python 3.12, and PostgreSQL 16.8, among others.

For further details, you can review the release announcement. Rocky Linux 10 is available for download from the official website, offering installable ISO images for multiple architectures including 64-bit AMD/Intel x86-64-v3, 64-bit ARMv8.0-A, IBM POWER, IBM z, and the newly supported RISC-V. Live ISO images are also provided with desktop environments like GNOME and KDE Plasma, although upgrades from Rocky Linux 8.x or 9.x are not supported.
