Wireshark has announced the release of version 4.4.8, marking the eighth maintenance update for the 4.4 series of its popular open-source network protocol analyzer for Linux, macOS, and Windows. This update does not introduce new network protocol support but enhances existing support for a variety of protocols, including ASTERIX, DLT, DNP 3.0, and many others.
The update addresses several critical bugs, such as fixing a crash that occurred when displaying packets in a new window after reloading Lua plugins, a bug related to the renegotiated DTLS session decryption, and another that resulted in the packet diagram displaying the representation multiple times for fields set as FT_NONE
. Other fixes involve issues with UDS dissector responses and a DNP3 timestamp malfunction after epoch time.
Additionally, Wireshark 4.4.8 resolves a bug causing the application to freeze on startup when utilized within an Android emulator, an encoding issue with UTF-8, and a parsing problem with form-urlencoded keys.
