Exciting Updates to Linux’s Sleekest System Monitor App!

Mission Center, a sleek GTK4/libadwaita system monitoring tool for Linux, has received an update to version 1.1. This application is designed to simplify the monitoring of various system resources, including CPU, memory, disk, network, and GPU usage, all from a single dashboard.

The recent update has significantly revamped the Services page, allowing users to view child processes and filter services by their status (e.g., stopped, running). The new backend for this feature shares much of its architecture with the Apps page, and it comes with numerous bug fixes and performance enhancements that improve overall responsiveness.

Additionally, the Apps tab now offers the ability to send OS-level signals to processes via right-click options, including STOP, CONT, HUP, INT, TERM, KILL, USR1, and USR2. The tool also displays a wealth of details about system hardware, such as CPU cache size and RAM specifications.

Importantly, Mission Center has introduced an About System dialog that provides essential information about the underlying operating system, including the package manager, version, kernel release, and the desktop environment. This feature aims to reduce the need to use other applications or terminal commands for system info.

The developers indicate that this is just the first iteration of the About System dialog, with plans for future updates to enhance the information available. In addition to the new features, the update includes several performance improvements related to CPU usage, fan configuration, and GPU readings.

Installation Instructions:

Mission Center is available for free and is compatible with most Linux distributions. Users can install it from Flathub. An AppImage option is also available for portable installation via the Mission Center Gitlab releases page. For Ubuntu users, it can be installed as a Snap application via the terminal:

sudo snap install mission-center

At the time of this release, note that the Snap version may not yet be updated to 1.1, but it will receive the automatic update once available.
